Kelly Ripa reveals the simple reason she quit drinking

first_imgABC/Randy Holmes(NEW YORK) — Kelly Ripa hasn’t had an alcoholic beverage in three years, but it wasn’t always her plan to stay sober. The Live with Kelly and Ryan host shared the very simple reason why she put down the glass for good when she stopped by People Now on Wednesday.  “You wanna know what’s so funny,” she started. “I did one of those crazy, like, sober Septembers although it was like March. And I did it for a month and I felt great.”Ripa continued, “I liked the way I felt, I liked the way I sort of looked, and I was like ‘I think I’m just gonna stick with it’ and that was sort of it.”The 49-year-old mother of three joked that her co-host Ryan Seacrest likes to blame himself for her unintentional sobriety because it happened around the same time he joined the mid-morning talk show in 2017. However, that’s just not the case.“I really just felt better,” Ripa said.Copyright © 2020, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.last_img read more

DONEGAL RAPESEED OIL GETS STAR TREATMENT AT GREAT TASTE 2012

first_imgOne of Donegal best-known food products has emerged as a real rising star on the Irish food and international food scene. The already famed Donegal Rapeseed Oil will be proudly displaying a coveted 2 Gold Star Great Taste 2012 logo after being judged by a panel of 350 of the nation’s most discerning food experts over 45 days.Donegal Rapeseed Co. Ltd. is located in Raphoe and is growing from strength to strength both in reputation and qulaity of product. “We are a small, locally owned and operated company in Donegal. All our rape seed crops are grown locally by specially selected, individual, small farm holdings dispersed throughout the area, on soils that are unique to this area and are not found anywhere else on the island of Ireland.”To achieve Gold in Great Taste is significant for any food or drink producer and results are eagerly awaited. The scheme, run by the Guild of Fine Food, has been described as the epicurean equivalent of the Booker Prize and in 2012 a total of 8,807 different food and drink products were entered.Donegal Rapeseed Oil is the only pure rapeseed oil in Ireland to win 2 Gold Stars this year. “We knew from last years 1 Gold Star that we had the potential to do better and this year we proved it. It’s always good to see other oil producers doing well but we believe we are at the elite end of the market, one step ahead of the competition.”The management of the local producers attribute the oil’s great taste to their highly skilled farmers and growers, the local soil and the unique north west climate. “The oil has been tried and tested, but being a natural product we don’t have a huge influence over how the eventual product is going to taste; it’s all down to nature and the agronomy skills of our farmers here in Donegal. We are now aiming for the Golden Fork Award, the highest accolade in fine food and drink arena.”Judges this year included Masterchef winner and restauranter Mat Follas, restaurant critic and Masterchef judge Charles Campion, food writers Lucas Hollweg and Xanthe Clay and over 300 food buyers from leading food halls, delicatessans and farm shops, including Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason.Call to see us at this year’s A Taste of Donegal Food Festival this weekend from 24th until 26th August. Facebook to Get “Pro” Apps Thanks to Z-Commerce

first_imgFacebook is Becoming Less Personal and More Pro… Guide to Performing Bulk Email Verification A Comprehensive Guide to a Content Audit sarah perez Are any application developers making money on Facebook? Not really, but they could be. According to Bruce Richardson of AMR Research, less than 2% of Facebook developers make any “real” money. Part of the problem is that Facebook has not had any decent e-commerce engine for monetizing applications – until now, that is. Instead, developers have had to rely on the advertising model, which isn’t always a good fit for their type of application, nor is it all that effective. Z-Commerce, a new service launching today at DEMO 09, aims to address this problem. But the big question is this: are there any Facebook applications worth paying for? Zuora, the company behind Z-Commerce, is a startup already familiar with subscription billing and payments services – it’s their main business. And now with Z-Commerce, they’ve integrated their SaaS solution with the Facebook API to provide their services to Facebook developers. This opens the door for Facebook apps to “go Pro.” In other words, application developers are provided with the infrastructure and tools to make their applications subscription-based services. With a Z-Commerce-enabled application, developers can implement a business model on Facebook similar to what we have on the iPhone today: free apps that prompt you to upgrade to the full, paid version. But there’s still a small problem here. Most Facebook applications aren’t worth paying for. “It’s sort of the chicken and the egg scenario,” says Zuora chief executive Tien Tzuo, “we’re providing the chicken, but are hoping it will hatch an egg.”It’s not as if there isn’t potential for a paid application marketplace. Facebook hosts some 50,000 apps and there are more than 600,000 developers on the Facebook platform. The problem is that a good bit of these apps are time-wasters, games, trivia, quizzes, and other somewhat non-essential applications – hardly anything worth your hard-earned money. Z-Commerce, though, can imagine all sorts of applications that could take advantage of this new e-commerce platform. We would love to see professional, useful applications such as they ones they’ve envisioned – things like LinkedIn Recruiting, Relationship Managers, and other imaginary – but exciting – application ideas. The Dos and Don’ts of Brand Awareness Videos To get the ball rolling, Zuora is launching a contest for which they’re seeking five Facebook developers to be the very first to build a subscription-based application with Z-Commerce for Facebook. Selected developers will receive free access to Z-Commerce for Facebook for one year. For more details, visit http://developer.zuora.com/facebook. Woman Killed By Friends While Fleeing a Shoplifting Spree

first_imgChermaine Mayo, 38 is the Maryland woman authorities said ran over and killed her own friend while trying to flee from a shoplifting spree. “For me, it’s really sad to see that someone could just dehumanize someone like that and leave the scene,” says Captain Joe Zurolo, Elkton Police Department. Police said Mayo and her two accomplices, Donisha Harris and Keneesha Cunningham, tried leaving the Walmart off Pulaski Highway without paying for over $1,000 worth of merchandise.A loss prevention associate followed the trio and tried snapping photos of their car. “In an attempt to conceal the tag, the victim, Kaneesha Cunningham, jumped on the trunk of the vehicle and tried to use her body to cover tag,” said Captain Zurolo. Police said Mayo was behind the wheel and reversed, hitting a curb, leaving Cunningham trapped under the car before reversing and hitting another curb. “It’s crazy, I mean a total disregard of life in my opinion. They didn’t even attempt to at least render aid” said Captain Zurolo. Cunningham was pronounced dead on the scene, while the other two suspects fled on foot and were quickly apprehended.Shoppers are now trying to fathom the crazy story. “Not even like try to help her. They just ran. It blows my mind,” said Brittany Savage, of Elkton. Many are left outraged over how a shoplifting incident could escalate to this. “No need for it to rise to that level of violence where someone loses their life. Totally outrageous,” said Captain Zurolo. Police said Mayo faces several charges including negligent manslaughter by vehicle and negligent auto homicide. They said Harris was charged with theft and released on her own recognizance.   [Source: WJZ13 News]- Sponsor –   Stay UpdatedGet critical information for loss prevention professionals, security and retail management delivered right to your inbox.  Sign up nowlast_img read more

Using Converged Network Adapters for FCoE Network Unification

first_imgMany enterprises run two separate parallel networks in their data center.  Ethernet-based LANs are used to connect servers and clients and the internet.  Fiber channel based networks are used for connecting servers to SANs and block storage arrays for storing data,. @ajayc47 In late 2010 we determined that our existing 1GbE network infrastructure was no longer adequate to meet our rapidly growing business requirements and the resource demands of our increasingly virtualized environment.  Furthermore, to achieve the full benefits of the performance gains of the latest Intel processors and clustering technologies required network performance upgrades.  center_img Our solution, based on the extensive test results documented in this FCoE white paper, was to implement a unified network infrastructure using FCoE through dual-port 10Gb Intel Ethernet X520 server adapters.  As a result, we are able to reduce total network costs per server rack by more than 50% among other benefits described in the paper.  last_img read more
