Martin’s idea.In an HBO behind-the-scenes interview, Wright spoke about the series’ finale and what it was like to find out that Bran Stark would be the one to oversee Westeros in the end. Just like some Game of Thrones fans, Wright was completely caught off guard when he found out about the Season 8 plot twist.“[Creators] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] told me there were two things [author] George R.R. Martin had planned for Bran, and that was the Hodor revelation, and that he would be king,” Wright said in the interview. “So that’s pretty special to be directly involved in something that is part of George’s vision. It was a really nice way to wrap it up.”Wright initially thought that the Bran Stark plot twist was a joke when he received the Season 8 script from the Game of Thrones showrunners.“When I got to the [Dragonpit scene] in the last episode and they’re like, ‘What about Bran?’ I had to get up and pace around the room,” Wright explained. “I genuinely thought it was a joke script and that David and Dan sent to everyone a script with their own character ends up on the Iron Throne. ‘Yeah, good one guys. Oh s—, it’s actually real?’” Even though the Game of Thrones finale had mixed reviews, Wright said he thinks Bran Stark would make a great ruler moving forward.“I think he’ll be a really good king actually. Perhaps there will be something missing in having real emotive leader, which is a useful quality in a king or queen as well,” Wright added. “At the same time, you can’t really argue with Bran. He’s like, ‘No, I know everything.’”More on Geek.com:‘Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall’ Is a VR Westeros Adventure‘Game of Thrones’ Actress Sophie Turner Says Goodbye to SansaWatch: The Hound’s Best ‘Game of Thrones’ Insult Momentscenter_img Stay on targetlast_img read more
