MP calls for local government body in Wotten Waven

first_img 83 Views   2 comments Tweet Share LocalNewsPolitics MP calls for local government body in Wotten Waven by: – June 8, 2017 Sharing is caring!center_img Share Share Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Valley Constituency, Dr. Colin McIntyre (Photo credit: Office of the Prime Minister)Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Valley Constituency, Dr. Colin McIntyre has called on constituents to form a local government body. Dr McIntyre made that call at a town hall meeting held at the Wotten Waven Resource Centre on Wednesday 7 June 2017. “We have to reestablish a local government in Wotten Waven. We have had some issues, so we will fix them up and we will get that program going,” he said. According to the Ministry of Social Services, Family and Gender Affairs’ website, which manages the operations of local government bodies in Dominica, the active participation of citizens in the development of a country has been promoted as a prerequisite for any meaningful democratic system. It adds that it is in this context that a Local Governmental system which provides valuable opportunities for popular participation and responsibility to Local Authorities for local development management is seen as being significant to the development of Dominica.McIntyre noted that having a local government authority in a community is “very critical” as it improves communication between the community and central government.“It existed before, and anytime you have a strong local government from the people of the village, partnering with the central government, that my friends, is the best formula for development for the village,” he stated. McIntyre added that establishing a local government arm will be beneficial to every resident of the village. “So, I would like to make sure that very soon from now, we can look at our development program, but we first have to establish our local government, and that local government will be for everyone, single one of you, and the residents of the village in general,” Dr McIntyre further stated.last_img read more

10 Pendaratan Dramatis Sepanjang Sejarah Penerbangan

first_img1. Avon Lake Defeats St. Edward’s On The Pitch With 3-0 Hard Fought Effort

first_img Related Topics Avon Lake played host to the St. Edward Eagles tonight and earned a tidy 3-0 victory in a non-conference matchup. The game began with chances for each team. In the third minute senior Edison Lemanowicz tested the Eagles’ goalie with a powerful shot that he had to palm away, and it fell to junior Spencer Chippi, whose driven shot sailed wide high and to the left.A few minutes later St. Eds has a ball drop at the back post that they poked towards the goal, but freshman Zach Glesius made a great leaping save to keep it out and the defense cleared.Ten minutes into the game the Shoremen struck, off a lovely free kick. The Eagles had just given up a careless foul on a ball that looked like it was going out for a St. Eds throw in, and paid for it. Junior Drew DelGiudice hit a ball to the near post that Lemanowicz flicked to the back corner and in. The goal was his fourth on the season.Avon Lake almost doubled their lead ten minutes later after a long through ball played in by junior Derek Stepak, playing center back tonight, found its way to fellow junior Danny Lambert, who cruised in on goal and hit a nice near post strike. The Eagles keeper made a great save to get down to his right and push it out for a corner kick. The Shoremen also generated a dangerous opportunity with just under a minute to go in the first off a well taken corner kick from senior Cam Salco, who forced the St. Eds goalie into another quality save as he had to fly off his line and make a full extension punch to stop what looked like an almost certain goal at the back post. The second half looked like it would be more pressure from the Shoremen as two minutes in they were knocking on the door step once again. Sophomore Zach Ramsey used some nifty footwork to free himself and find senior Joey Caputo, who played a diagonal cross that snuck past the Eagles’ defense and made it to Salco. Unfortunately his effort went just barely wide left despite sending the keeper the wrong way.Five minutes later junior Josh Lawniczak picked up a ball in the middle of the field and found himself free to launch a shot from 30 yards out, which seemed to dip as it tailed away from the keeper, who did well to knock it away for another Shoremen corner kick.About a minute later St. Eds almost caught the Shoremen off guard as their forward found some space behind the defense and was about to hit his shot when a last ditch effort from Stepak managed to stifle the threat. In the 55th minute another Shoremen free kick looked dangerous as DelGiudice hit one to the top of the six yard box that senior Andrew Jacobson beat the keeper to but could not turn home.About ten minutes later Avon Lake finally broke through off a nice sequence. Lawniczak flicked a header at midfield that Lambert picked up before playing a centering pass to DelGiudice, who chipped a pass to the right corner of the 18 yard box that Lemanowicz then dummied back to Lambert.Lambert’s expertly taken cross was met and finished by a nice lefty shot from DelGiudice, who had continued his run into the box. His fourth goal of the year made it 2-0 Avon Lake. The final score was assured after senior Kristof Nieschwitz made a knifing run with the ball through the Eagle 18 yard box and took a shot that was blocked by an Eagle defender. Sophomore Logan Allemeier took the deflection and hit a shot that was saved by the hand of a different St. Eds defender, earning a clear penalty kick. Nieschwitz stepped up and buried his shot leaving no doubt, and making it 3-0.“Solid performance for us this evening,” said head coach Pete Klepek. “We took an early lead and then had to play much of the game protecting that lead. Our back line, led by Andrew Jacobson and Derek Stepak, and our goalie Zach Glesius, did outstanding work to keep us in control.Colin Radca, Joey Caputo, Josh Lawniczak, even guys off the bench like Charlie Krause, Aidan Miller, and Ryan Smith were great tonight.”With the win Avon Lake improves to 3-2 on the season. JV also was victorious in the first game, beating a big and strong Eagle’s JV squad 1-0 off a goal by freshman Andy Neipp that was assisted by fellow freshman Nick DelGiudice. JV moves to 3-1-1 on the year. Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday September 5th as they host SWC rival Lakewood, games are at 5 and 7pm.  Vince McKeelast_img read more

HS Football: St. Edward Surges Back From A Double-Digit Deficit To Stun Mentor 28-24

first_imgMENTOR, OHIO — After losing 35-0 to Archbishop Hoban a week ago, many people didn’t give St. Edward a chance against GCC powerhouse Mentor. In fact, 72% of voters in a pregame poll predicted a Mentor victory. Leading 28-24, the Eagles defense had to step up. And that’s exactly what they did.A pair of interceptions by Jaylen and Joel Castleberry in the final two minutes thwarted any type of comeback Mentor had in the tank. Starting with a 45-yard Andrew Smith field goal late in the first half, Mentor began to string together a run that looked like it could put the game out of reach. Ian Kipp, who holds six Division I college offers, threw for two touchdowns in the third quarter. The first to Evan Harper, the other a 40-yard strike to Colin DePasquale. A steady offensive attack and clutch defense in the fourth quarter guided St. Edward to a huge 28-24 bounce back win over Mentor.Mentor drops to 2-1, and will travel to Brunswick (2-1) for an intriguing conference matchup next Friday.St. Edward improves to 2-1, and will travel to First Energy Stadium next Saturday to face St. Ignatius (0-0) in the “Holy War”.Box Score St. Edward 0 13 0 15 28Mentor 7 3 14 0 24 After forcing a punt, the Eagles went on one of the most impressive drives of the season. They converted on fourth down three times on this drive, taking the clock all the way down to 2:00 before Ramos ran it in for his third rushing touchdown of the night. 17 unanswered points had Mentor on top 24-13 heading into the fourth quarter.Despite going cold on both sides of the ball, coach Tom Lombardo did not let his team give up on the road. With 10:52 in regulation, St. Edward capped off an impressive drive with another Ramos touchdown run, his second of the game. Add a two point conversion, and the Eagles cut the Mentor lead to 24-21. Despite this, the Eagles used a wild fourth quarter comeback to hand Mentor their first regular season loss since 2018. The game got off to an interesting start to say the least. A tipped interception ended up in the hands of Chance Colon, setting the Cardinals up inside the St. Edward five yard line with an opportunity to strike early. After a terrific goal line stand gave the Eagles the ball back inside their one, Christian Ramos threw another interception, this one being returned for a touchdown. Trailing 7-0 after a rough opening quarter, Ramos bounced back in a big way. The speedy dual-threat quarterback dashed into the end zone, then found Andrew Cook on a short touchdown pass to give St. Edward a 13-7 lead. SA calls for French backing on Africa

first_img15 October 2013 South Africa will count on France’s support for the implementation of United Nations Resolution 2033, which calls for closer coordination between the UN Security Council and the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council, President Jacob Zuma said on Monday. Zuma was speaking during a state banquet held in Pretoria in honour of visiting French President Francois Hollande. “South Africa believes that to comprehensively address this challenge of peace and security on the continent, there is a need for closer cooperation between the United Nations Peace and Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council.” He said the resolution accorded the AU “a leading role” in facilitating the resolution of conflicts on the continent, with the support of the United Nations. “At a multilateral level there is a need for us to further intensify our collaboration and partnership. “This we should do … to encourage faster reform of the United Nations, especially the Security Council, so that this important world body can become a truly democratic forum, reflecting the political and other realities of the 21st century.” Zuma and Hollande agreed on Monday that intervention was needed in the Central African Republic to help stabilise the country. Zuma said that relations between France and South Africa would grow from strength to strength following Hollande’s visit. In 2012, more than 120 000 French tourists visited South Africa, an increase of 16% compared to 2011. “This shows great potential, which we will continue to harness,” he said. Among the agreements reached on Monday was for France to supply the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa with more than 3 000 train carriages. Source: SAnews.gov.zalast_img read more
